What does this job entail?

Commercial data and data analysis are here to change the world. At KBC, the source for our data is a high-quality data environment, developed on a big-data platform on the Amazon Cloud. Thanks to this set-up, we can identify opportunities and make substantiated decisions.
Thorough data management is essential in this : meta-data management, data quality, data definitions, data governance and so forth ... It all needs to be supported with the right tools and processes . At KBC, we have chosen to use the data-intelligence platform Collibra. In the next few years, we are going to implement this platform and its related processes in our internal departments, in Belgium and in other countries.
As our Data Management Engineer, you share in the responsibility for the implementation of Collibra and its integration in the KBC big-data platform . It's a job in which you work out all aspects of data management in great detail. Together with diverse data-users from the organisation, you make sure our data landscape is optimally managed .
It's a nice challenge that you tackle with a diverse team of starters, as well as colleagues with extensive experience. You're a central figure within the organisation: an unmissable link between the teams who build the big-data platform and the people who use it.

What do we expect from you?

• You work on the design of the data-management platform and the required services, paying particular attention to security, maintainability, efficiency and cost-efficiency. As well as this, you work closely with architects, analysts and the data-users.
• You make use of Collibra services-whether they're from third parties or you've developed them yourself -to implement and integrate the data-management platform in the KBC systems.
• You take care of the implementation and the maintenance of the technical design .
• You support the data-users in their use of the platform and services.
  

Your key strengths?

• You have a bachelor's or master's degree in ICT, engineering sciences or trade engineering with a focus on policy informatics.
• You have experience with Python and REST APIs . You want to get to know Collibra, AWS, Hadoop and Spark. What if you're already familiar with them? That's a nice bonus!
• You're fascinated by the world of big data and data management. You look forward to discovering new tools and technologies . Professional literature helps you stay up to date with technological trends. It means you always feel at home in a quickly changing world.
• You speak and write Dutch and English fluently. You have no problem adapting your communication style to suit the person you're in touch with. This results in effective communication with colleagues from different departments.
• You and your colleagues enjoy working in a team to reach pre-defined goals.
• You're very self-reliant. On top of a training course, you build up your knowledge on the job. You go searching for knowledge and answers on your own initiative .
