Job description

As functional manager, you will support the teams working with OCLC's cloud systems WorldShare Management Services (our library system) and ContentDM.

You think along with the users and translate their wishes into functionalities. You answer their questions and handle incidents. You are also the first point of contact for key users and regularly organise and chair consultations with them.

In all this, you maintain active contact with OCLC so that your knowledge of the systems remains up to date and the wishes of our users are also known to the supplier.

You attend external user meetings as a representative of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), provide reports and ensure that the functional and technical documentation is up to date.

It is useful that you can quickly distinguish main and side issues when users come up with a problem. You are good at putting yourself in their shoes and enjoy working with them on practical solutions. You also take future needs and developments into account.

The position of functional manager falls within the Digital Resource Management department (15 employees). This department is responsible for the management of all systems and applications of which the library is the system owner. The department also builds new solutions and provides knowledge and capacity on IT development to the other departments and projects.

When tendering for new systems, the department makes an important substantive contribution in describing wishes and requirements.

You are part of the team responsible for the functional management of various systems, the number of which is expected to increase. The mutual (re)allocation of systems and tasks is done with the entire team, in which you therefore have a lot of input.
